I wish I would have found out about Herbs passing sooner.
Unfortunately I was unaware.

Herb was a great man. I loved him much. I will always remember his charisma, energy and creativeness.

I will miss his visits to the shoppe on Thursdays before he headed to the bath house.

I will miss you as a friend and mentor.

Imagine being a young married couple with your first child,moving into your new home in late autumn when unexpected early winter temperatures freeze your home’s water pipes creating what then seemed a crisis. I called Herbie and received instructions on how to limit the damage. Much later in the day when it was getting dark Herbie arrives with his son Ron and a couple of others and tore out the old pipes and re-routed the new copper pipes. When they were finished and the team went to their vehicles Herbie gave me the bill.The bill was only for the materials he purchased,and he looked at me and said, “I want you and your new family to have a good start,you don’t owe me anything.” This was 25 years ago. It was in part the economic gracious act that was unexpected as well as touching, but far more was his genuine kind interest in us at that time and for many years after that endeared him to me and my family. Knowing him,and also his brother Jerry, sharing their stories of growing up and their children’s lives was a true blessing.Thank you.
